Repairing a torn trunk.
Has one of your fuchsias
an accident, where one
twig or strain strongly tears?
No need, there is still salvation
possible!
Most of you agree happened that there is a branch or even a whole
crown of the trunk is torn after one
heavy rain. Or that in a lot of wind the
bamboo stick snapped at the ground
because it was rotten. If the branch or trunk is not completely torn off,
there is still salvation possible.
I ever once have a standerd
4 years old, of which the tribe is for
three-quarters was torn over one
length of 6 cm, can still save.
The tree was broken in May and
the same year was still excellent.
The rescue method is as follows.
Do not try to re-enter the trunk
to reset the original position,
because then the weight becomes too heavy for the crack, but try him
careful to lift something. Then put
a flowerpot or bucket on the head below the tribe. Then the crown pruned until there is one leaf pair of the young wood still standing. This makes the juice flow from the limited. If you do not do this, you will see the leaves fall off the plant and there just need some leaves on the plant stay tuned for the juice flow to keep, because that is necessary for the healing process.
Now there is a new stick at the
planted, but so that the stick on
about 10 cm away from the bottom
from the trunk goes into the ground.
Then the crown becomes cautious
raised and fastened at the top
from the stick and so that there
no pressure on the torn part
comes up. If necessary, turn on the other side of the first stick an another

stick with the plant, also at 10cm distance from the tribe.
If it's okay, the torn now share again; the crown should certainly not go down
bags. If this is not the case, try the
sticks what to resist the torn parts are against each other, but please note that the damage does not continue to tear.
Now the whole wound is beginning
about 5 cm below the wound, wrapped
with teflon tape (this uses the plumber for couplings of water and gas pipes with it) to 5 cm above the wound.
This must be done as tightly as possible
because the wound must be complete
connect. With heavy strains it is
advisable to still have a splint. Bring them on and secure it with Teflon tape
With a torn off branch you go on the same way to work, with the difference that the branch is hung on another branch. Do not forget to prune this branch back on a leaf pair of the young wood.
Is the branch ripped at the stem begin then with the wrapping of the trunk
and then work towards the wound until
the whole is sealed. The seal must be such that there is no air at the wound can come to dehydration of the prevent wound. Finally, spray it
entirely now once or twice in with a fungicide.
The tape should be about a year or one
growing season. Like the time
has come to remove the tape,
do this as follows.
First remove the splint
cut the tape with a razor blade
or sharp knife.
Then the tape of the wound on two sides
cut from top to bottom.
Leave the tape, it usually falls
automatically off the wound.
If this is after about a month yet it is not
case, you must still do the
remove tape.
Now put a new stick tightly against
the trunk and the branch. Leave the suspension
of the branch for some years
because the first two years remain
a weak point.
PS: do not forget to inspect the wound
and remove the tape if necessary,
otherwise the tape will be in the wound
grow up. Removal is then almost
no longer possible, with the result that
the plant will stay thinner on this spot
than the rest of the stem or branch.
